TBI?s Infinity plan heats up competition in cellular market
Long distance competition in the cellular market is heating up with TeleBermuda International Limited launching the Infinity flat rate plan for cellular long-distance calls to compete with a similar plan introduced by Logic Communications in the middle of September.
The Infinity plan offers unlimited cellular calls to the US, Canada, UK and Ireland for a flat rate of $39.95 per month. Unlike the Logic plan which offers flat rate calls to the same regions for $34.95-$44.95 per month depending on whether the callers are already customers of the company, TBI will not require callers to lock into a one year contract or dial an access code ahead of their call.
?TBI will not require INFINITY customers to sign any long-term contracts like other long distance offerings in the market, therefore, they will not be subject to any penalties should they decide to change long distance plans,? said Tamiko Black, product manager, International Voice Services.
?We know this unlimited cellular calling plan will bring in new customers and after they join TBI we are confident that our superior quality and innovative products will continue to keep them satisfied.?
Developing the flat rate plan to satisfy the local market was a ?natural choice for TBI? since research shows the largest volume of residential long distance calls terminate in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, the company said in a statement.
Under the plan international time zones and the length of calls will no longer be an issue for cellular users. The plan?s price also covers the long distance charges for calls received to customer?s cellular phones when they are roaming in the United States, Canada, the UK and Ireland.
