Trimingham's offers wristbands

Closing retailer Trimingham's has created a commemorative wrist band to support two local charities.

The wristbands ? which come in five different colours and feature the Trimingham's sailboat logo ? are designed to mark the "celebration" of the store's closing sale. It will shut its doors for a final time on July 27 after 163 years in business.

Store manager Kevin DeSilva said: "A lot of places create wristbands for charities. Lance Armstrong did it for cancer and he raised a lot of money. It is the end of 163 years, it is a commemorative band and we thought it would be a good cause to give all the money to charity."

Trimingham's plans to donate any proceeds raised from the sale of the $2 wrist bands to P.A.L.S. and The Bermuda National Trust.

Store president Lawrence Trimingham said: "Trimingham's Stores is thrilled to offer something that celebrates our long and storied history, while giving back to our community.

"P.A.L.S. and the Bermuda National Trust are very important to our residents and I encourage everyone to help us give back to these wonderful organisations."
