Two Bermudian men were called to the Bar in the Supreme Court and have begun work with law firm Appleby, Spurling and Kempe

Marco Montarsolo commenced his pupillage with Appleby Spurling & Kempe in 2002 after having studied law at the University of Buckingham in England, graduating in 1998.

He subsequently completed the Legal Practice Course in 1999. He also spent 14 months gaining work experience to count towards his articles with Lovells in London, England. Marco will join the funds and investment services team within the firm's company department.

Mr. Montarsolo stated: "I look forward to the challenges that lay ahead not only for myself but for Bermuda as we strive to maintain and even improve our standing in the international business arena and I hope that in the years to come I will be able to make a contribution to that end."

And Stephen Males has been appointed Associate with the law firm after completing his twelve-month pupillage with the firm in 2002.

He graduated from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, where he specialised in United Nations study, and after obtaining an LLB Honours degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1999.

Stephen also studied law at Brierly Price Prior Law School in London, England where he completed the Legal Practice Course in 2000. He is now an attorney in the firm's property department.

Mr. Males commented, "I am excited now to embark on an entirely new adventure, this time in the professional rather than academic arena.

"Property law in Bermuda is diverse and unpredictable, and I have discovered through working with a brilliant department how challenging and rewarding this field can be. As a Bermudian, I am especially thankful to AS&K for having given me the opportunity to move forward and begin practicing here on the Island."
