Insurance executive Brian O'Hara will not have to leave the Island when the work permit term limit comes up at the end of the decade. That will happen if the Immigration Minister approves his application for a Permanent Residents Certificate (PRC). Mr. O'Hara, the CEO of XL Capital Limited, and his wife Nancy have applied for PRC status which would mean the end of annual work permit renewals.

Government has imposed a six-year term limit on work permit renewals - extendable up to nine years - in a bid to end the incidence of long-term foreign residents.
