NEW YORK (Bloomberg) — Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, the Bermuda-based insurer, agreed to buy Converium Insurance North America.

The purchase is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2008, Allied World said today in a statement distributed by PRNewswire.
