Erskine to head Appleby's expanding BVI office
Appleby Hunter Bailhache partner Alex Erskine is to relocate to the British Virgin Islands to play a leading role in the firm's expansion of its office in the Caribbean territory.
Mr. Erskine will be the office managing partner for the Appleby Group's BVI base, succeeding Huw Moses, who has served in the role since the office was established in 2004.
Mr. Erskine, who has practised in the Bermuda office since 1999, was educated in Ghana and England, and studied law at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1996 and the Bermuda Bar in 2006.
Since becoming a partner on April 1, 2006 Mr. Erskine has served as the local team leader of the Funds and Structured Finance team within the Corporate Commercial practice group in Bermuda.
"We are looking to expand the office, with the addition of further lawyers practising in the corporate commercial and litigation practice groups, building on the capability which is already well established in the BVI office," Mr. Erskine said.
Appleby Hunter Bailhache provides offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services. The Group has approximately 600 lawyers and staff in the major offshore jurisdictions of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Jersey and Mauritius as well as the financial centres of Hong Kong and London.
