Golden Ocean buys two vessels

LONDON (Bloomberg) — Golden Ocean Group Ltd., a shipping company led by Norwegian billionaire John Fredriksen, bought four commodity carriers from a shipyard in India and agreed to sell two vessels that it ordered previously.The four 75,000-ton carriers will be built by 2009 at the Pipavav Shipyard in India for a price of $35.5 million each, Hamilton, Bermuda-based Golden Ocean said in a statement to the Oslo stock exchange yesterday. The shipping line has an option for two more carriers.
Golden Ocean will also sell two carriers, which it ordered last year in China, for $45 million each. The sale will deliver a "positive result" of $17 million, the company said.
