Golden Ocean ship to be released by UK

LONDON (Bloomberg) — A ship on hire to Norwegian billionaire John Fredriksen's Golden Ocean Group Ltd. is due to be released after being held for four weeks by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the company said.The Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier Golden Glory was found to be in "very poor" condition due to heavy-weather damage when boarded in Liverpool on February 22. Thirty-one defects, including a "serious" crack to the forward starboard deck, were identified by the agency.

"She's due to be released tomorrow," Golden Ocean chief executive officer Herman Billung said in a telephone interview from New York. "There were a lot of minor things, but she's had repairs now." Golden Ocean Group is based in Bermuda.

The 16-year-old Golden Glor> has a capacity of 65,652 deadweight tons and belongs to Oslo-based shipping group Torvald Klaveness, according to Lloyd's-Fairplay data on Bloomberg. The ship is managed by Bahamas-based Dockendale, according to Golden Ocean's website.
