Audit of problematic IT system considered by Government

An infrastructure audit of Government's IT systems is being considered because of what Premier Ewart Brown calls "recurring problems."

In recent months the Government web portal has been noticeably slow to load pages, although that problem appears to have been resolved.

However, other IT problems are persisting as is clear from a statement from The Cabinet Office, which is advising the public that in light of recurring problems with the Government information technology system "an infrastructure audit of the Government Information Technology Office is set to be considered by the Cabinet."

Premier Dr. Brown said: "The smooth and efficient functioning of Government depends on a reliable IT system.

"We want to ensure that the system we have can consistently meet the demands of all users, especially the public - the people we strive to serve every day."

Government said concern over the system has been raised after ongoing issues with service, maintenance and reliability.
