An advance by Butterfield Bank drove the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange up 13.32 points (0.26 percent) to 5,096.94.

Shares in Butterfield Bank improved by 25 cents (0.4 percent) to $59 after 5,321 were traded. Shares of Bermuda Commercial Bank (weights) were also exchanged, a total of 197 traded, but having no effect on the closing price of $1.55.

The only other shares traded were in Argus Group, with 3,100 changing hands, but without change to the share price of $15.50.

The total number of shares traded on the exchange was 8,618, representing a value of $362,256.
