Belco stock gained 50 cents (2.4 percent) to help lift the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange by 9.19 points (0.19 percent) to 4,974.31.

A total of 1,300 Belco shares were traded as the stock closed at $21.50.

There was also activity in the banking sector with 6,015 shares of Butterfield Bank changing hands, but with no effect on the closing price of $18.35.

Likewise there was no change in the stock price of BF&M, despite 170 shares being traded during the day. The stock remained steady at $21.

The total volume of shares traded on the BSX was 7,485, representing a value of $141,354.25.
