A regional accolade from Microsoft has been won by Bermuda's Independent Consulting Solutions' eVolution business solution.

The company has picked up the Microsoft Latin America Partner Program Award for Advanced Infrastructure Solutions - Hosting.

As reported previously in The Royal Gazette, eVolution is an application service provider for hosting a number of Microsoft applications remotely, such as Microsoft Office and Outlook, and providing anti-virus and anti-spam services to small and medium businesses.

Business pay a monthly fee to access remotely the software applications and data storage they need rather than have to pay out large capital to own the same technology 'in-house.'

The Microsoft award was presented to Rob Salmon, president and chief executive officer of ICS and eVolution, at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Denver, Colorado.

The regional annual award ceremony recognised Microsoft Partners that developed and distributed exceptional solutions based on Microsoft platforms in the past year. Award winners were selected from 241 nominations across the Latin American region by a panel of worldwide and regional judges, and were presented in 15 different categories.

Mr. Salmon said: "We are thrilled to have received this award, not just for what it means to ICS and eVolution, but also for what it means to Bermuda as a whole.

"It recognises our achievement and innovation in delivering effective technology and business solutions that benefit our clients, and it also distinguishes us as a technology leader in the Latin American region which includes Mexico, Central and South America and all of the Caribbean.

"Importantly, eVolution is the only company in the world right now offering complete, turn-key technology solutions for small business outsourcing. Winning a Microsoft Latin America Partner Program Award for Advanced Infrastructure Solutions - Hosting will enable us to extend our reach beyond Bermuda to the entire Latin American region."

eVolution had also been one of four finalists for Microsoft Corporation's Global Partner of the Year Awards (in the category of Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Hosting Solutions) which were also presented at the conference in Denver. Although eVolution did not win in that category it was the only finalist from Caribbean/Central America region.
