Bermudians climbing the ladder with Fairmont

Fairmont Bermuda announced the hiring or promotion of 11 Bermudians in the first quarter of 2007.

Stanley Ray has been promoted to director of catering for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Mr. Ray brings a wealth of food & beverage/hospitality experience, having managed and operated several restaurants in Bermuda, Bahamas, California and Switzerland for the past 13 years.

Craig Bailey has been promoted to management trainee with the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Mr. Bailey recently graduated with a masters of arts in human resources from Bowie State University. He brings experience in recruitment, training and organisation, and has worked with a wide variety of clients. Prior to his promotion, Mr. Bailey joined the Fairmont Hamilton Princess in a temporary role as recruitment manager in September 2006.

Chantelle Thomas has been promoted to the position of purchasing and accounts clerk with the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Previously, Ms. Thomas was employed with the Grotto Bay Hotel. She joined the Fairmont team in March 2004 and has been awarded several promotions prior to her newest assignment.

Dennie O'Connor has been promoted to beverage manager with Fairmont Southampton. Mr. O'Connor began work with Fairmont in 1997 and has twice been awarded Fairmont's Best of the Best award.

Derek Bean has been newly appointed as maitre d' of the Jasmine Lounge. Mr. Bean brings to Fairmont 20 years of food and beverage experience with Wyndham/Sonesta Beach Resort as maitre d' and acting food and beverage director.

Bryan Place has been employed at Fairmont Southampton for over 18 years and has recently been promoted to the position of maitre d' of the Cabana. Mr. Place worked as assistant maitre d' in various Fairmont outlets, including Whaler Inn.

Shawn Lekki, newly promoted to the role of assistant banquet maitre d' for bars, has been employed at Fairmont Southampton for more than five years. He has served as bartender in the Cellar and was later promoted to senior bartender.

One of Randolph (Jack) Darrell's main responsibilities, as one of Fairmont Southampton's new assistant executive housekeepers, will be maintaining all public spaces and the offices. He joined the Southampton team in 1995.

Wendy Taylor, as a newly appointed assistant executive housekeeper, will be responsible for all training in the housekeeping department. She joined the Southampton team as a room attendant in January 1999.

Randy Simons has been promoted to the position of Laundry/Valet Manager. In addition to his experience with Fairmont Southampton, Mr. Simons also brings to his position experience working in the airlines industry.

Sandra Iris joins the Fairmont team as assistant laundry manager. She brings 34 years of experience from Wyndham/Sonesta Beach Resort as a housekeeper and laundry manager.
