<Bt-4>BSX takes 2.65% fall

The Royal Gazette Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index yesterday fell by 2.65 percent, as KeyTech Ltd. shares hit a 52-week low.

The fall continued a volatile week and came a day after the BSX had enjoyed a triple-digit rise.

Only 400 shares were traded in KeyTech, the parent company of BTC, as the company's share price plunged by 29.3 percent to close on $11.

Almost $12 million worth of shares were traded in Butterfield Bank on Wednesday and it was once again the busiest issue on the BSX as 5,252 of the bank's shares traded.

The Bank, which yesterday announced it had opened a new fund management unit in Halifax, Nova Scotia, pared 50 cents of Wednesday's $2 gain to close down by 0.8 percent on $59.

Fifty shares in Belco Holdings Ltd. also sold, as the energy company closed unchanged on $23.

The Index closed down 134.95 points to end the day on 4,956.54. Volume was 5,702 shares and turnover was $315,418.
