BSX up as Belco gains

Local stocks edged up yesterday as a gain in Belco's share price offset a decline in BF&M's.The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index ended the day up 2.56 points 4,836.43 on volume of 6,462 shares worth $297,751.Belco gained 50 cents or 2.1 percent to close at $24.50 on volume of 480 shares while BF&M fell 50 cents or 2.7 percent to $17.75 as 944 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank was unchanged at $56 as 4,740 shares were exchanged while Bermuda Paint maker Devonshire Industries held at $14.50 on volume of 200 shares. Bermudas Commercial Bank warrants were unchanged at $1 on thin volume of 98.
