Butterfield climbs

Butterfield Bank shares rose for a second successive day driving the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index to a 25-point gain.Butterfield rose 50 cents (0.9 percent) on the trading of 2,735 shares, to close at $58.50 — representing a two-day rise of $1.

On a day of light trading to end the business week, Stevedoring Services Ltd. was the only issue to fall, shedding 50 cents (7.1 percent) to close at $6.50, on the trading of 500 shares.

The only other local company to see any trading activity was insurer BF&M Ltd., which closed unchanged on $18.50 after 97 of its shares were sold.

The Index rose 25.53 points (0.51 percent) to close the week on 5,048.62. Volume of shares traded was 3,332 and turnover was $165,024.50.
