Cable & Wireless shake up groups Bermuda with Channel Islands

Cable & Wireless has restructured its international business with the Bermuda and Channel Island units being linked together in a bid to improve service for its pan-island corporate customers.

The move is aimed to help the company create a more cohesive system to service its accounts in those countries, with all four business units including Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man and Bermuda comprised within its Monaco & Islands International portfolio in its international division.

Meanwhile, Geoff Houston, has been appointed chief executive of the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Bermuda.

"Cable & Wireless International operates in 33 jurisdictions, providing global expertise with a local touch," he said.

"We have a number of customers, predominantly, but not exclusively, in the finance industry, which have relationships with our business in more than one of those jurisdictions.

"This move is designed to help us focus on how to ensure that they receive seamless relationship management whether they are undertaking a small local project or a major international one.

"This is simply the latest example of how our business is becoming ever more focused on improving the experience all our customers have of Cable & Wireless."

The company said there are no future plans to expand its portfolio to take in other offshore jurisdictions and no change to the management structure across the islands or in Bermuda at the moment.
