Charman's ex-wife linked to new wealthy insurer
The woman who won a record $96 million divorce settlement from her former husband, the chief executive of Bermuda-based Axis group John Charman, is reported to have found a new love within the insurance industry.
According to a newspaper report appearing in the UK's Daily Mail, Beverly Charman, 54, has become close to Peter Lloyd, who is said to be a self-made wealthy man with a estimated worth around $50m.
He was a founder of risk management and reinsurance brokers Jardine Lloyd Thompson in the early 1980s. He is in his late 60s and has retired from full-time work, according to the Daily Mail report.
Mr. Lloyd is a widower following the death of his wife three years ago.
The saga of the Charmans, who were married for 27 years, made headlines for a number of years because of the huge amounts of money involved. Mr. Charman has an estimated wealth around $260m.
Earlier this year Mrs. Charman was tied up at gunpoint by thieves who ransacked her home in Kent, England, and stole jewellery worth $600,000.
