Cox to lead delegation to London
Finance Minister Paula Cox will deliver the keynote address at a luncheon kicking off the Bermuda International Business Association’s annual London roundtable tomorrow.
Ms Cox is part of a delegation of top financial service representatives who will give an overview of the benefits of doing business in Bermuda. Environment and Telecommunications Minister Neletha Butterfield will give closing remarks at a cocktail reception that will conclude the session, a statement from BIBA said.
The Savoy Hotel event is an invitation-only afternoon of “informative panel presentations and discussions” hosted by Bermudian international businesses, the statement said.
At the Roundtable, BIBA will introduce guests to Bermuda’s international business community and highlight Bermuda’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, internationally respected reputation and track record of success in establishing Bermuda as an ideal destination for serious international businesses, it added.
BIBA chairman Lloyd Wiggan, CEO Cheryl Packwood, Ms Cox and a delegation of top financial service representatives, will be on hand to offer an overview of the benefits of Bermuda and to lead a series of focused break-out sessions.
“These panels of industry experts will explain what is currently happening in the jurisdiction and will directly answer guest questions and address popular issues such as Bermuda’s hedge funds, private wealth, trusts and regulation,” the statement added.
“We are excited about the opportunity to take Bermuda’s international business message on the road and to create further opportunities for BIBA members and others to expand and grow their businesses in the UK and Europe,” said Ms Packwood. “We are pleased to have the support of Bermuda’s government and to be joined by Minister Cox and Minister Butterfield.
“Their participation makes our message of partnership and cooperation between government and the business community crystal clear and demonstrates the focus our government is bringing to maintaining and growing Bermuda’s economy.”
