Elbow Beach promotes four Bermudians

Four young Bermudian women have been promoted at the Elbow Beach Hotel, bucking the trend of the departure of local talent from the Island's hospitality industry.

April Caisey, Sophie Dier, Latosha Dill and Zeudi Hinds have all moved up the career ladder within the sales and marketing department at the Mandarin Oriental-managed hotel.

Ms Caisey, 27, who started out as a temporary worker in January 2006 and won the colleague of the month award in April 2007, has been promoted to the role of local group sales manager and will work with local groups and Elbow Club members to co-ordinate group bookings and events. Having joined the hotel as communications co-ordinator in June 2005, Ms Dier, 26, has been elevated to the position of communications and E-commerce manager, in which she will be responsible for managing the content of the Elbow Beach website, in addition to her daily tasks of fulfilling the hotel's public relations and advertising, co-ordinating internal communications and managing various databases.

She is also a member of Elbow Beach's mentor/protege programme, a development programme for the hotel's future leaders.

Ms Dill, 35, has been a member of the hotel's team since March 2005 and during this time she has ascended through a variety of roles in the reservations department, including reservations agent and supervisor, culminating in her appointment as reservations manager.

Another colleague of the month, this time for March 2007, her role has a wide range of responsibilities, the most crucial being reservations agent training, and she boasts one of the best reservation call score records in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

Ms Hinds, 30, who has been working at Elbow Beach since January 2007, was quickly promoted to the post of director of communications a year later, and her work experience in advertising and public relations both locally and overseas has brought fresh ideas and energy to help increase the hotel's exposure both in Bermuda and on the international stage.

Cindy Gagle, director of sales and marketing at Elbow Beach, said: "At Elbow Beach, we pride ourselves on developing succession plans for colleagues. For me, it is the most rewarding and enjoyable component of my position.

"All four ladies have proven themselves to be eager to learn, grow and strategise to further contribute to the success of Elbow Beach."

Natalie Arrington, director of human resources at the hotel, added: "It is wonderful, having such incredible rising stars within our organisation. They make it easy to fulfill our company policy of promoting from within, whenever possible.

"Each of these ladies brings a unique skill set and energy to our team, and we are lucky to have all of them, and will continue to support them as they grow within the company."
