Govt. wins tech award

The Bermuda Government was named a 2007 Silver Winner for the prestigious Global Awards for Excellence in Business Process Management (BPM) & Workflow at a ceremony held in Nashville, Tennessee.

Implementing an enterprise-wide BPM programme in an environment of limited internal resources, Bermuda's E-Government Department adopted an innovative approach by creating a BPM Centre of Excellence called the 'Better Process Group' (BPG).

The BPG has captured the natural interest in process management and improvement across a range of departments and is leveraging the technical resources of the Government's vendor community and internal talent.

Bermuda's director of E-Government David Atwood, acknowledged the success of its initial pilot project which automated and web-enabled the annual employment survey process for the Department of Statistics, eliminating the need for employers to submit paper forms and improving the process for tracking, reviewing and approving submissions.

Mr. Atwood, said that "the capabilities of our BPM software and the partnerships we have developed with our vendor community and departments, positions Government to develop more effective cross-government 'horizontal' services for our clients".
