Information management seminar

Bermuda Microsystems has teamed up with global information management company EMC to run a free seminar in Bermuda later this month, covering critical information management topics.

Subjects covered at the event, to be held on March 13 at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, will include back-up, recovery, archive, regulatory compliance and information security, and specialist senior technologists and solution experts will be flown in to take part. It starts at 9 a.m.

Damika Tucker, vice-president of sales at EMC’s Island partner Bermuda Microsystems, said of the event: “Back-up and recovery, archive, compliance and security are all topics that come up repeatedly when we talk to our clients — new and existing, and they are becoming more and more important to address.”

Speakers include Richard Purdy, global financial services industry marketing and solutions development leader at EMC and FJ Gould, senior account executive at RSA, the Security Division of EMC.

Sylvia Paulinelli, EMC’s channel sales manager for Bermuda, says the event marks a change in focus: “EMC are making significant investment in Bermuda — we now have trained field-service personnel — trained at EMC’s world HQ in Boston and a strong sales and service partner in Bermuda Microsystems. Bermuda is a very important part of our strategy, and we are here to stay.”

The event is targeted at executives and key technical and legal staff and will be of particular interest to financial, insurance and reinsurance sectors.

Philip Cooper, president of Bermuda Microsystems, said: “Finance companies need to get the message that there are over-arching solutions available to them to tackle the major headaches of compliance, archive, recovery and security, right here in Bermuda, from us, with enviable support from our key partner EMC.”
