Ironshore expands into specialty construction with Boston unit
Bermuda-based Ironshore has entered the specialty construction sector with the launch of its IronBuilt division.
The new division, which is under the direction of industry veteran and company president Joe George, is based near Boston and offers construction risks protection with an emphasis on residential wrap-up liability insurance and liability insurance for sub-contractors involved in residential construction.
"We are excited to have Joe George join Ironshore," said Bob Deutsch, CEO of Ironshore.
"We view IronBuilt as an excellent opportunity to expand our specialty insurance platform into the construction risks arena," he said. "Joe has an incredible track record and a solid reputation."
Mr. George has been a recognised expert in the specialty insurance sector for more than 30 years, with more than 20 years as a casualty underwriting executive specialising in underwriting large, unique excess and primary accounts, said the company.
Most recently, Mr. George operated as a program administrator for Glencoe/Lantana Insurance Companies, subsidiaries of Renaissance Re.
"I'm very pleased to be expanding the US platform with the acquisition of Joe George and his team," said Greg Flood, senior vice-president of Ironshore Holdings (US) and president of IronPro.
"His area of construction expertise adds to our growing portfolio of specialty products. IronBuilt management brings to this business the highest degree of integrity and dedication to serving clients in the specialty construction insurance marketplace."
Ironshore provides broker-sourced specialty commercial property and casualty coverages for risks located throughout the world. Ironshore's initial market profile included property catastrophe and property all-risk coverage for small to mid-sized commercial risks.
With the launch of IronPro in May 2007 and IronBuilt in October 2007, Ironshore has expanded its platform into the professional liability and specialty construction market sectors.
