KPMG staff go MADD at residential home

Beats working in the office: KPMG staff got busy on Make A Difference Day painting the outside of Westmeath Rest Home on Pitts Bay Road. Pictured are Melissa Durrant and Mark Laing.

It was a day out of the office for staff at KPMG who got out the rollers, paint brushes, hoes and rakes to give the Westmeath Residential and Nursing Home in Pitts Bay Road a make-over and tidy-up to mark Make A Difference Day last Friday.

The entire outside of the building was repainted and the garden was cleaned up at the same time, with the residents enjoying some entertainment all courtesy of the KPMG employees who broke away from their normal duties as auditors, administrators and financial advisors.

"This is by far the most ambitious community project we have ever undertaken and I will admit that we had to think long and hard before agreeing to even do it. Due to pressing commitments not all of our 190 staff were able to volunteer but those who were here certainly put their hearts and souls into the project," said KPMG managing partner Steve Green.

In total the company had 113 staff and partner volunteers helping out.
