Nigerian reinsurer's profit rises $5.6m

LAGOS, Nigeria (Bloomberg) - Continental Reinsurance plc., a Nigerian company that underwrites risks for insurers, said nine-month profit more than doubled.

Net income rose to 657.8 million naira ($5.6 million) in the nine months through September 30, 2007, from 313.4 million naira a year earlier, the Lagos-based company said yesterday in a statement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Revenue dropped 13 percent to 1.4 billion naira.
