<Bt-2>No change in BSX Index

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index closed yesterday unchanged for the day and virtually unchanged for the week.

Yesterday's heaviest trading was in shares of Butterfield Bank, which closed unchanged at $56.50 on trading of 5,089 shares. The Bank was also the most traded issue of the week, as 9,633 of its shares changed hands and it finished the week 25 cents higher.

Butterfield Bank yesterday advised the BSX that in addition to the shares bought back and cancelled during December 2006, the Bank bought 80 shares at an average price of $55.88 which are intended to be used to satisfy the Bank's obligations in respect of the officers' and employees' stock option plans.

Bermuda Commercial Bank closed unchanged at $8.25 after 100 shares sold yesterday. BCB shareholders traded in 1,100 shares over the week as the stock finished 25 cents down from the previous Friday's close.

Four hundred shares of West Hamilton Ltd. also traded yesterday, as the company formerly known as the Bermuda Bakery closed unchanged at $50. However, the issue was down $10 (16.67 percent) for the week on trading of 800 shares.

Another issue to take a double-digit percentage fall over the week was Bermuda Container Line Ltd., which closed at $12, down $1.50 (11.1 percent) for the four days of trading after the New Year holiday.

Argus Holdings Ltd. was popular with traders this week as 3,200 shares moved, as the pension provider and insurer closed the week unchanged at $13.75.

The Index closed at 4,858.52, unchanged for the day and down by 1.81 points (0.04 percent) for the week. Volume traded yesterday was 5,589 shares, worth $311,305.50. For the week, trading volume was 16,103 shares, valued at $649,098.50.
