Bermuda-based Platinum Underwriters Holdings has made up for the loss of chief underwriting officer of US Reinsurance John Bender following his departure to Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, with two new appointments.

Kevin Marine has been appointed chief operating officer of Platinum Underwriters Reinsurance, the US reinsurance subsidiary of Platinum Underwriters Holdings. Mr. Marine will also continue in his role as the chief underwriting officer for property and marine of the US subsidiary.

The company also announced that Thomas Kelly has been appointed chief underwriting officer for casualty of the US subsidiary.
