Bank on the BSX
The banking sector was a hub of activity on the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday, as Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. shares rose and Butterfield Bank saw its value decline.
Bermuda Commercial Bank boosted its share price by 60 cents (five percent) to close up at $12.60, with 700 shares traded.
Meanwhile, Butterfield Bank dropped five cents (0.3 percent) to finish on $18.10, as 1,778 shares changed hands.
Kentucky Fried Chicken Bermuda Ltd. was the only other company to experience any movement, with 75 shares being traded.
The Index, as a whole, closed down 3.38 points (0.07 percent) at 4,890.55, as 2,553 shares worth $41,572.10 were traded.
Elsewhere, the BSX Insurance Index recovered from a week of decline to finish on a high, up 0.49 percent at 1,198.59.
