Banks dominate BSX

The banks proved to be among the main players on the Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.It was a day of mixed fortunes for Butterfield Bank and Bermuda Commercial Bank, as the former's share price closed down five cents (0.2 percent) at $21, while the latter's value increased by 25 cents (2.2 percent) to finish at $11.75. They traded 18,103 and 10,784 shares respectively.Elsewhere the utilities sector was also thriving, as Watlington Waterworks Ltd. saw their share value close at $12.55, representing a rise of $1.19 (10.5 percent), while BELCO Holdings Ltd. finished on $20.50, a decrease of $1 (4.7 percent). A total of 1,000 and 134 shares changed hands respectively.
