Banks, utilities gain
Banking and utilities proved to be the most prosperous sectors on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) last week.
Butterfield Bank and Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. boosted their share prices by 10 cents each to close up at $18.10 and $11 respectively.
Belco Holdings Ltd., meanwhile, increased its share value by $1.75 (8.66 percent) to finish on $21.95, with 2,524 shares traded.
Devonshire Industries Ltd. also went up $1.75 (14.58 percent) to $13.75, as 200 shares changed hands, while MediaHouse Ltd. - eight percent PFD was up 50 cents (12.5 percent) at $4.50, with 400 shares traded.
BF&M Ltd. advanced 95 cents (4.32 percent) to $22.95 as well, with 3,566 shares transacted, but Argus Group Holdings Ltd. slipped 50 cents (2.86 percent) to $17, with 10,900 shares traded.
Stevedoring Services Ltd. fell 50 cents (7.69 percent) to $6, with 2,972 shares changing hands.
The Index as a whole was up 68.155 points (1.29 percent) at 5,266.24, as 131,103 shares worth $2,253,007.70 were traded.
