XL Capital Ltd. has appointed Celia Brown, executive vice-president and head of global human resources and corporate relations, to its executive management board.

Ms. Brown was promoted to her current position in 2006, where she oversees the company's human resources, marketing, global communications, public relations and corporate social responsibility activities.

She has served XL and its predecessor companies for almost 20 years in numerous other capacities, including associate general counsel, corporate secretary and head of human resources for NAC Re Corp. and chief administrative officer for XL America and for the Insurance segment.

Previously, Ms. Brown was a corporate attorney with JWT Group Inc.

XL's chief of staff, Fiona Luck, said: "I would like to congratulate Celia on her appointment to XL's executive management board. She has been a valuable member of XL's senior management team for many years now, both at the segment level and more recently at the corporate level.

"We are fortunate to have an executive of her experience and expertise and I look forward to working with her more closely in this capacity."
