Busy day for banks

The banking sector was where all the action was on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

Butterfield Bank and Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. both dropped five cents, as 14,000 and 3,100 shares were traded by each respectively.

The only other company to experience any activity was BF&M Ltd., which traded 1,000 shares, but its share price remained unchanged.

Overall, the Index was down 8.38 points (0.18 percent) at 4,770.22, with a total of 18,100 shares worth $297,845 changing hands.

The BSX Insurance Index, meanwhile, advanced by 4.31 percent at 1,168.48.
