Insurance stock strongest

Insurance was the big winner last week on the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX), with Argus Group Holdings and BF&M both boosting their share values.

Argus' share price rose $1.05 (7.02 percent) to $16, with 3,100 shares traded, while BF&M saw its stocks climb $1 (five percent) to finish up at $21, as 2,000 shares changed hands.

KeyTech also did well, with its share value soaring 50 cents (3.33 percent) to $15.50, with 1,978 shares traded.

But it was the banking sector which really missed out, as Bermuda Commercial Bank and Butterfield Bank both experienced drops of 50 cents (four percent) and 10 cents (0.54 percent), respectively.

Another decliner was Devonshire Industries, this time by 25 cents (1.82 percent) to $13.50, with 1,300 shares changing hands over the week.

The Index as a whole closed up 22.99 points (0.46 percent) at 5,013.77, with a total of 155,954 shares worth 1,407,618.55 being traded.

The BSX Insurance Index was down though, by 6.41 points (0.53 percent) at 1,212,58.
