Medical student Attiya awarded RenRe scholarship
Bermudian medical student Attiya Talbot has been presented with the 2007 RenaissanceRe Scholarship Award. She was selected from over 70 applicants and will now benefit from having her tuition, airfare and books paid for during her study in Ireland over the next four years.
Neill A. Currie, Chief Executive Officer of RenaissanceRe Holdings Limited, recognised her dedication at the presentation: "At RenaissanceRe we value energy, determination and vision.
"We particularly value these qualities in young people and we want to support young Bermudians in their pursuit of excellence. Attiya has demonstrated a firm commitment to a career in medicine, especially through her many years of volunteering here in Bermuda.
"RenaissanceRe is proud to support Attiya, and we wish her every success at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland."
The scholarship, which is not restricted to any field of study, encourages young Bermudians to strive for higher education without being impeded by financial need, to the ultimate benefit of the community as a whole.
