Mixed bag week

It was a week of mixed fortunes for the companies on the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX).

Last week three companies saw their share price increase, while two lost value on their shares.

Belco Holdings Limited, Bermuda Aviation Services Limited and Butterfield Bank were the ones to benefit as their share values all climbed by 50 cents (2.22 percent), 40 cents (6.67 percent) and 23 cents (1.1 percent) respectively.

Those to lose out were West Hamilton Limited and Bermuda Container Line Limited, whose shares fell $5 (7.14 percent) and $1.25 (8.36 percent) to finish at $65 and $13.70 respectively.

The Index closed up by 40.84 points (0.77 percent) at 5,310.33, with 67,824 shares traded and a turnover of $2,204,588.50.

The BSX Insurance Index went into reverse, closing down at 1,164.02 from 1,197.93.
