NEW YORK (Reuters) - New charges are being filed in a case involving Refco, a now defunct futures and commodities broker, the US Attorney in Manhattan said yesterday.
Details of the charges will be unveiled at a news conference, said the office of Michael Garcia, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. No other information was immediately available.
Former Refco chief executive Phillip Bennett as well as a former chief financial officer and president of the company are awaiting trial on conspiracy, fraud and other charges. Refco and 23 affiliates filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2005.
