RIMS gives $300,000 for risk management education
Risk management students are set to benefit after the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) donated $300,000 to the Spencer Educational Foundation
The donation represents one of the largest contributions made to the Foundation since its inception in 1979.
"RIMS is supportive of and shares the Spencer Educational Foundation's vision of advancing the risk management profession by educating risk practitioners of today and tomorrow," says Janice Ochenkowski, RIMS president and managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle Inc.
"The Society is proud to offer this tremendous level of support to the Spencer Educational Foundation. We look forward to continuing to see the fruits of the Foundation's labour within the risk profession."
The RIMS's $300,000 contribution will go toward expanding some of Spencer Educational Foundation's most popular programs, including part-time MBA scholarships for RIMS members; the Student Internship Program, which pairs companies and RIMS Chapters with risk and insurance management student interns; and the Risk Manager in Residence Program, which teams risk practitioners with universities for on-site lectures and knowledge-sharing. Some of the funds will also go towards developing Enterprise Risk Management-related education through RIMS.
"We are truly grateful to receive this generous contribution from the leading association for risk management professionals," says Donna Galer, chairwoman of Spencer Educational Foundation.
"RIMS is well-known for its commitment to risk management and dedication to raising the profile of the profession. These funds will support Spencer Educational Foundation in further expanding and strengthening its programs, and fulfilling its mission to stimulate, promote and encourage promising students in reaching their educational goals."
Earlier this month, RIMS announced a $50,000 pledge to the Canada-based William H McGannon Foundation.
