Ritchie calls for time

NEW YORK (Bloomberg) - Ritchie Capital Management Ltd.'s two bankrupt life-insurance funds asked for more time to auction their assets, saying for a second time that potential buyers have not been able to get the information they need.

Ritchie Risk-Linked Strategies (Ireland) Ltd. and Ritchie Risk-Linked Strategies (Ireland) II Ltd. asked the US Bankruptcy Court in New York to postpone the auction of its assets until January 9. The auction is currently set for December 10.

"There is still much work to be done," Ritchie attorneys from Dewey LeBoeuf wrote in the motion filed on Monday. "For reasons outside the debtors' control, potential purchasers do not yet have all of the information needed to complete their due diligence."

A hearing on the request is scheduled for December 6 before Judge Burton Lifland.
