Seadrill lands $164m contract in Asia

OSLO (Bloomberg) - Seadrill ASA, the Norwegian oil-rig company set up by billionaire John Fredriksen, won a $164 million contract with a "major operator" in Southeast Asia.

The contract for Seadrill's jack-up drilling rig West Janus is expected to last three years, the Bermuda-based company said yesterday in a Hugin statement. Start-up operations are scheduled in the third quarter of 2008.

West Janus is currently operating offshore Malaysia.
