Seadrill makes $42m profit

Seadrill is a Bermuda-based international offshore drilling contractor Seadrill has recorded second quarter net income of $42 million, equal to earnings of $0.11 per share.

The company has 37 drilling units, out of which 15 are under construction and its fleet includes harsh-environment semi-submersibles, jack-ups, shallow and deep water tender rigs and deepwater drillships.

In the second quarter of the year it secured new harsh environment contracts for the semi-submersible West Alpha and the deepwater drillship West Navigator, a new contracts for the semi-submersible West Aquarius and five-year contract for the ultra-deepwater drillship West Capella.

Seadrill has reported consolidated revenues for the second quarter of $374m compared to $479.2m for the first quarter. Revenues for the first half year were $853.2m.

Operating profit for the second quarter was $76.9m as compared to $82.2m in the first quarter. Operating profit for the first half year was US$282.4 million.
