Sousa donates $25,000 to landscaping scholarship
Bermuda company Sousa's Landscape Management has donated $25,000 to a scholarship programme for the lawn and landscape industry.
As a member of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) for 20 years, the Sousa family pledged the money to the PLANET Academic Excellence Foundation (PLANET AEF) scholarship fund.
This contribution distinguishes them as a PLANET AEF Ambassadors and entitles them to name and establish the criteria for their scholarship.
Promoting and advancing the lawn and landscape services industry by supporting academic excellence is the Foundation's mission. To date Foundation assets total more than $2 million. "It is truly my honour to be an ambassador," said Sousa's Landscape Management president Jeff Sousa.
"In 1988, I left my lovely island home of Bermuda and ventured to my first Green Industry Conference. There is no doubt in my mind that making that trip in 1988 and joining the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA), a PLANET legacy association, was one of the best business decisions I have ever made. I owe so much to ALCA/PLANET."
In existence for more than 20 years, Sousa's has evolved into a full-service landscape company with specialists in high-end landscape design/build, irrigation, and horticultural maintenance, and the only one-stop-shop design/build landscape company in Bermuda.
"I am so proud that today our company is the largest landscape management company in our Island's history," exclaims Sousa.
PLANET is an international association serving lawn care professionals, landscape management contractors, design/build/installation professionals, and interior plantscapers. Around 4,000 member firms have direct access to marketing tools, industry specific business publications, updates on legislative issues, and networking opportunities that can assist them in becoming more profitable.
