*** CHAMBER FORMS NEW E-DIVISION BUC Chamber forms new e-division The Chamber of Commerce yesterday announced the formation of a new e-business development division to "proactively'' address the needs of existing and future e-commerce ventures in Bermuda.
The new E-Business Development Division will be chaired by lawyer Mark Diel .
Mr. Diel commented: "As has been said so many times e-commerce is going to pervade all our lives and is going to affect every person and every business in Bermuda whether they be retailers/hotels/insurance or professional support services.'' He added he was "somewhat awed at the talent the e-commerce committee boasts''.
The new division will be open to all Chamber members involved in support services associated with e-commerce or trading in e-business development.
The Chamber said it is anticipated the division will be of interest to an increasing proportion of the local business community for the following reasons: 1. Sooner or later every existing business will be engaged in or be affected by this new mode of communication. 2. All members of the Chamber will be given the chance to obtain secondary listing in this new division for a nominal fee and companies electing to become primary members of this new division will have a forum to pro-actively initiate measures to enhance the development of e-business in Bermuda.
