Mr. Bautista, who had been deputy CFO since February, takes over from Chief Operating Officer Ed McCormack who had combined the two roles.

FLAG said the move will enable Mr. McCormack, who remains COO, to focus on the operational performance and growth initiatives of the company.

Bermuda-based FLAG, whose cable between London and Japan is the only one not owned by a large telecoms group, is listed on the NASDAQ and London exchanges and managed from London.
