After ten years of living in Canada and the United Kingdom, David Cox said he was enthusiastic about returning to the Island and heading the landscape division for Barker & Linberg Chartered Architects.

"I see this as a great opportunity,'' he said. "People in Bermuda are looking for ways to maximise the potential of their environment, whether in their own home and property, their neighbourhood, or the community as a whole.'' Planning regulations are recognising the importance of the landscape and now require landscape plans for most developments. Consequently, Government has its own professionals and many (local) architectural firms are offering in-house landscape design services.

Mr. Cox has been working for the internationally renowned landscape architecture firm EDAW. His recent experience has been focused on resort development in Spain, France and the Middle East. In particular, he managed the design of a 2,500-acre resort community development in Egypt from the master planning stage to the detailed design of communal parks and a harbour side corniche.

Barker and Linberg senior partner Sjur Linberg said: "Having David on board will greatly enhance the firm's ability to respond to the ever increasing need to focus on good landscaping as an essential ingredient of good planning and design.''
