Dr. Binns is on a three month secondment as acting director of Child and Family Services that began on September 11.
COUNTERFEIT WARNING CRM Counterfeit warning Business owners were hit over the weekend when the banks discovered counterfeit bills.
At least six more counterfeit $50 Bermudian notes were detected at banks after businesses failed to catch the tell-tale marks -- or lack thereof.
Police urge members of the business community to check cash by looking at the currency up to the light.
The absence of a watermark indicates the note is counterfeit. Efforts should be made to get a description/name and police should be notified.
WOMAN'S BAG STOLEN CRM Woman's bag stolen A thief made off with a woman's wallet after she left her car unlocked for ten minutes.
The woman left her car windows open and doors unlocked between 9.30 and 9.40 on Saturday morning outside a Shelton Road, Pembroke home when the theft occurred.
The handbag containing the wallet had been on the front passenger seat.
The wallet is described as navy blue, containing cash, credit cards and other personal items.
Police are urging anyone with information to call 295-0011.
CD PLAYER STOLEN CRM CD player stolen A Panasonic CD-cassette player was stolen from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital overnight on Saturday.
The device was taken from the first floor cafeteria area. The theft was discovered on Sunday morning.
The player is described as light grey and oval-shaped.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 295-0011.
PEACEMAKER INJURED CRM Peacemaker injured A Good Samaritan was assaulted when he tried to stop a fight outside the Spinning Wheel nightclub on Court Street on Saturday morning.
The man said he was trying to break up the fight when men began hitting him with bottles.
He suffered a three-inch cut near his left eye and one-inch cuts to the top and back of his head.
The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for stitches.
PLEDGE WALK PUT OFF FNR Pledge walk put off Heavy rain dampened spirits after a pledge walk had to be cancelled this weekend.
Agape House pledge walk organisers said they had to make a judgment call at around 7.30 a.m. but it was still "pouring with rain''.
"A good few showed up but we were worried about the children. It's a family walk. If it was just adults we might have gone ahead.'' said a walk organiser speaking to The Royal Gazette .
The walk was rescheduled for Sunday, October 7, starting from the Botanical Gardens.
