End.

Tonight marks the start of Naval Nights at Dockyard, which is to be a regular Friday festival featuring music, gombey dancing, dining specials, activities for children and shopping sales.

The Dockyard Business Association has planned Naval Nights to run each Friday until September 2.

A big part of the Association's push is a new after-hours ferry service from Hamilton. The schedule calls for ferry departures from Hamilton at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The trip to Dockyard takes 30 minutes.

The three departures from Dockyard take place an hour apart beginning at 6.30 p.m.

Tonight's festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will run to 9 p.m. The bill includes the P.C.C. Majorettes and Choy Aming's Carnival Dancers. There will also be bungee jumping, fun castles, kiddy trains and street art.

Naval Nights is the first season-long effort to boost business traffic.

Shops and restaurants are getting into the act by offering specials for Naval Nights such as discounts, complimentary ice cream scoops, wine and children's meals.

The Maritime Museum will reduce admission to $3 for adults and $1 for children. The Craft Market will put on demonstrations.

Marine and Ports has extended the Hamilton-Dockyard ferry schedule on these nights to run until 9:30 for no extra charge. The Booze Cruise will also be making rendezvous at Dockyard in conjunction with activities of Club 21.
