Opposition examine election strategy
General Election ended yesterday.
And six main points emerged in the annual symposium, according to a party spokesman last night.
The spokesman said among the "key topics'' were the Island's monetary policy, the role of the judiciary, Police and community relations, youth, drugs and crime, race relations and the liberalisation of political institutions.
He added: "Also featuring in the symposium was the fine tuning of the General Election machinery. Shadow Ministers led separate work shop sessions on their portfolios involving members of their Shadow Ministry teams.'' And he said: "The PLP Symposium has long been an annual feature in the PLP year -- but this one assumed even greater importance in what will be a particularly important year in Bermuda's political history.'' A total of 50 delegates, including the Parliamentary group, attended the Stonington Hotel meeting.
Party leader Jennifer Smith could not be contacted last night to discuss specifics of the meeting.
But in a press release she said the symposium was "an unqualified success'' and added it had "assisted PLP Parliamentarians and members in bringing an even sharper focus to a number of key issues affecting the broad spectrum of Bermudians.''
