Top executive to speak
Smith arrives in Bermuda on Wednesday, brought in by the Bermuda branch of the Institute of Directors for a speech on Thursday evening at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.
Mr. Smith is a former attorney general for the Province of British Columbia and was an active speaker on civil law reform, Quebec and the constitution.
He also held Ministerial posts in Education and, in Energy, Mines and Petroleum in the provincial cabinet.
In 1986 he created the first Canadian international Commercial Arbitration Centre in Vancouver.
Mr. Smith will speak on the changes to the economic climate in Canada when it repatriated its constitution. He is expected to provide valuable insights into the developments which still affect Canada to this day.
He will also meet with Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan, senior law firm partner, Mrs. Lynda Milligan-Whyte and others he met at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
