XL names Walsh chief credit officer

Mr. Walsh was formerly senior vice president and chief credit officer of commercial lines with Travellers Property Casualty Corp. in Hartford, Connecticut. He will report to the chief financial officer of XL, and will work with senior management in the financial guaranty, insurance, reinsurance and other business lines to assess the accumulation and management of risk exposures throughout the Company.

Mr. Lalani, MBA, CA, will be responsible for BLDC financial systems and controls, information planning systems, and assisting the BLDC's management team with strategic planning.
He brings to the post more than ten years' experience in property development and management most recently with Old Oak Properties Inc. in London, Ontario.
He also served three years in the Government Auditor's Office. And he articled at Deloitte & Touche Chartered Accountants in Toronto. Ms. van Beelen has been appointed an Associate of Cooper and Gardner following her return from London, England. While there, she studied architecture and worked for two years for Jestico & Whiles, a well established firm, which has won numerous awards of excellence in architecture. She worked on One Aldwych, the latest contemporary luxury hotel in London which has received recognition for design, Ocean Wharf, a residential development for Furlong Homes in Docklands and was invited to participate in the 1998 Housing Design Awards, and Darwin Court for the elderly.
In Bermuda, Ms van Beelen has experience with projects for the hospitality industry and the Bermuda Hospitals Board.
