Bermuda to be marketed at US briefing

briefing marketing Bermuda as a offshore domicile at a conference on the subject next week in Orlando, Florida.

Bermuda Stock Exchange chairman Arthur Sculley will give a speech on the Internet and its influence on the offshore mutual funds industry at the March 24 briefing.

About 20 local representatives from the mutual funds sector are organising the briefing along with the Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA).

About 120 industry representatives have signed up to attend the briefing, held during the week long FBA/ICIEF Mutual Funds and Investment Management Conference.

The conference is the largest of its type in the US, with about 1,400 participants, BIBA chairman Glenn Titterton said at a press conference yesterday.

International Business Forum in Bermuda chairman Jan Spiering, who will be part of the briefing, said the event helped put the spotlight on the Island.

"The message cannot be over-emphasised as our competition in this area continues to grow,'' he said. "It is very important that Bermuda is represented at such high-level events to enhance and build on our good reputation within the investment management industry.'' Dow Jones News Service, for example, plans on covering the briefing.
